This little shelf is in my home and it pleases me. Not only because I like to imagine myself making wonderful homemade pasta; It would mean that I had been the woman that I was meant to become, living the life that I had always imagined, instead of the real life I had lived. I enjoy the little thermos and it has a little bendy plastic spoon in it; I imagine that I had one like this as a little girl in school to hand down to my own little girl to use when she went to school. The salt&pepper shakers. I received them as a gift from my daughter's Mum last spring when I went to Halifax. There's the true story to them; and the little story that I imagine instead... the salt&pepper shakers represent my little girl's Mum and myself; she is white and I am red. Since they live on the little shelf beside a door that opens and closes often they are in constant movement, they try to cling together, they too often sit awkwardly close but their arms are empty because they have moved too far apart. They were meant to be a matching set but when the time came to chose; that's what there was to pick from. They are also empty and have never been used; they are both able to carry either salt or pepper. Sometimes, I imagine, I am am white and she is red, instead.~ Lisa
